When You Feel The Pressure To Have It All Together

Often we can find ourselves on the go. Chasing routines, chasing becoming “HER”—the girl we imagine is finally enough. routines, chasing becoming HER—the girl we imagine is finally enough. We chase routines, rebrand and put tons of effort into building ourselves into this refined version who has it all together.

But what if I told you that trying to build yourself up from your own strength will just leave you in an endless pursuit? Wouldn’t it be a shame to spend years on a journey only to find out you were going the wrong direction?

Jesus says in John chapter 15: 4-5, “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”

“Apart from me you can do nothing” stands out to me because it puts perspective to our why behind actions.

If you’re not connected to the Lord, you’re building a meaningless empire.

If this is you, have peace knowing all hope is not lost. Jesus gently shows us how to pivot by remaining in Him.

If we remain in Him, He will remain in us. You may be wondering, “How do I actually remain in the Lord?”

In this same chapter we learn that “When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love” (‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭10‬).

Praise God, because it reframes becoming “HER” away from striving, schedules, and accomplishments and back to what matters most: remaining in the love of God and walking in obedience to Him.

This is great news because the Bible says, “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord” (‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭38‬-‭39‬). ‭

Jesus reminds us later in the text that “I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!” (‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭11)‬‬

If you’ve been wearing yourself out trying to become “HER” by chasing accomplishments, appearances, routines, or a perfect image, take heart. Jesus never asked you to build your identity that way. He simply asks you to remain in Him.

When you do, He promises that “you will produce much fruit.”

“When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father. You didn’t choose me. I chose you” (John‬ ‭15‬:‭8,16).
