Feeling Lonely? God Is With You

Doing life is scary—bills that need to be paid, the success we so desire, the future we want to build. All of it becomes daunting, especially if we have to go through it single or alone.

Security and stability were the main reasons I wanted to be in a relationship. I’m a very dependent person and have always needed someone to lean on. But God wanted me to learn that I only needed Him to lean on.

You’re not alone in this journey of life—God is with you and for you.

The desire for security and stability should never be the reason for your pursuit of a romantic relationship. Why? Because no one on this earth can guarantee you 100 percent security and stability. Only God can give us 100 percent assurance.

God has a proven record of never failing and always remaining faithful. Deuteronomy 7:9 says, “Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.” God has never failed us and will never fail. The Bible has thousands of promises that are guaranteed to be true to those who love Him.

To love God means to put Him first before our feelings and desires. It means to follow God despite what we see and feel. The great thing about following God is that we have 100 percent assurance that His ways are always the best for us.

“As for God, his way is perfect. The Lord’s promises prove true; he is a shield for all who look to him for protection…God arms me with strength, and he makes my way perfect” (Psalm 18:30, 32).

The word “perfect” means there’s nothing better we could add. Your current or future spouse will not add security to your life because your spouse doesn’t know everything and doesn’t have the power that God has.

No one can surpass God’s ability to take care of you.

If God desires for you to be married, it is not so that your spouse will take over God’s job of taking care of you.

God’s ways will always lead us to inner security. Ultimately, God is our provider. Yes, we may have great jobs and careers, but even those are gifts from God (James 1:17).

Don’t let the enemy deceive you into believing that God’s ways are insecure. God’s ways may feel uncertain, but we must hold on to the truth that God is always for us. God promises to give us life to the fullest, but it is the enemy who wants to pull us away from God’s blessings.

The enemy will use fear to stop us from pursuing God’s will, but we must remember that only God’s way brings us stability. “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life” (John 10:10).

Will you put your trust in God’s faithfulness? Will you believe that God’s ways are always good and secure no matter what you see or feel? No job, person, or circumstance can guarantee you security in life. You can only hold on to God’s promises as truth and know He is faithful. Be confident that all your needs will be met when you surrender your life to God who loves you and wants to take care of you.

If you’re looking for a place to rest, make God your home, and you will find rest. We’re all looking for a place to rest after an exhausting day of school or work. We can turn to God and make Him our safe haven. “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him” (Psalm 91:1–2).

If you’re looking for help and protection, run to God because He wants to be your refuge and fortress—your home. Nowhere else can you get the rest that only God can give you. You will find rest when you make God your dwelling place.

The beauty of depending on God is that He will never fail you.
