We loved this conversation with Debra Fileta, licensed counselor and author of her newest book, People Skills. Debra shares how the Bible is full of wisdom about how we relate to others, reminding us that people skills are deeply connected to our faith. When we recognize these biblical principles in our everyday interactions, God’s Word becomes more alive and challenges us to grow and helps us better reflect His love to a world that desperately needs it.

Debra encourages us to take ownership of our own relational habits. In a distracted world, listening well is harder than ever, yet Scripture calls us to be quick to listen and slow to speak. Listening is at least half of every conversation, and the way we show up can completely change the tone of a room. This conversation also reminds us to slow down in our relationship with God and make space to be still and truly listen for what He wants to say to us. […]

We loved this conversation with Yvette Henry, where she shares what it means to walk with Jesus in a real and personal way. She reminds us that God is not distant or inaccessible, but someone we can talk to like a close friend. She also speaks on the freedom found in John 15:3, encouraging us that we are already clean because God says we are. We don’t have to have everything together before coming to Him. We are called to remain in Him, trusting that He is the one who does the cleansing.

This conversation is especially powerful for women who struggle with letting go. Yvette reminds us that it is easier to believe God can move, it’s much harder to trust that He will. Her message echoes the heart behind her book, Release, Rest, Remain. We don’t have to carry everything, because God already is. When we choose to rest in His presence and remain in Him, we make space for Him to do what only He can do. […]

Kendall shares her life and struggles while gently dismantling the belief that if we “do all the right things,” God will automatically give us the desires of our hearts. This conversation is a reminder that sometimes things don’t work out not because our faith is weak, not because we didn’t pray hard enough, but because life in a broken world still happens. Trauma is trauma.

Kendall also shares about her book This Little Fire of Mine, a warm and inviting guide into difficult conversations that challenge us while grounding us in truth. If you’ve ever wrestled with questions, unmet expectations, or shame, this conversation will remind you that Jesus does not label you by your inadequacies. He loves you for who you are, and He welcomes your questions as part of growing closer to Him. […]

We loved this conversation with Melissa Spoelstra: Bible teacher, and author who is passionate about helping others to seek Christ and know Him more intimately. Growing up, Melissa often walked away from church with the message that she needed to “be really good.” It wasn’t until she truly understood the Gospel that she realized the good news isn’t about striving in our own strength, it’s about Jesus and His finished work on the cross. We don’t have to strive, we just have to believe.

We talk about how easily we drift into self-reliance when problems arise, instead of turning back to God in quietness and confidence. She reminds us to trust God’s timing, His sovereign character, and to seek Him as our true source of comfort instead of counterfeit comforts that compete for our hearts. This episode is a encouragement to strive less and trust God deeper, to stand firm in faith as women in a shifting culture, and to choose contentment over complaining. If you’ve been feeling tired from trying to “be good enough,” this conversation will remind you that Jesus is enough. In Him, there is real freedom. […]

Finding God in the Hard Places | Podcast with Brandy Dawson

We loved this conversation with Brandy Dawson—a seminary student, wife, mother, grandmother, content creator, writer, speaker, teacher, and nurse practitioner—about how God has faithfully met her through every season of her life.

Brandy shares her story of growing up in rural Tennessee in a home that wasn’t centered on faith. Even so, at just five years old, she felt God draw her to the altar, planting the first seed of a lifelong relationship with Him.

From getting married young to navigating teen pregnancies in her family across three generations, to suffering a career altering injury, Brandy shares how God was weaving redemption through each chapter. Through hardship, God was drawing her closer to Him more than ever before.

Today, she sees God’s hand in every part of her story. Her faith is deeply rooted in the truth that God is good, even when life is not. Joy and grief can coexist and God remains faithful in both.

This episode is for the woman who is trusting God through uncertainty, breaking generational patterns, or learning to bloom right where she’s planted. Brandy reminds us that our worth is not defined by our hardships, and that God is near, intentional, and always working.

If you need encouragement to trust God with your story, this conversation will meet you right where you are. […]
